Teddy Cruz: How architectural innovations migrate across borders
As the world's cities undergo explosive growth, inequality is intensifying. Wealthy neighborhoods and impoverished slums grow side by side, the gap between them widening. In this eye-opening talk, architect Teddy Cruz asks us to rethink urban development from the bottom up. Sharing lessons from the slums of Tijuana, Cruz explores the creative intelligence of the city's residents and offers a fresh perspective on what we can learn from places of scarcity.

A Cold Front Brings Beneficial Rain To California (March 29, 2014)
Watch in high quality (480p).
Gloomy and rainy conditions were observed in California as a frontal system moved in from the Pacific, bringing in more much-needed rainfall to the state.
Me and my mom were on the way to Stockton for Lola's birthday party. Rain was encountered while leaving San Jose but the rain had lit up while along the way. The rainy conditions later returned shortly after we passed thru Tracy, CA. It was a bit harder to see the road as the rain got thicker near Lathrop, CA. The rain seemed relentless as we finally arrived to Stockton, CA during the mid-afternoon. The rain was falling in big drops. Also, while driving by Downtown Stockton, we saw a few debris on the road. This rain may be beneficial but it can be a hazard for motorists such us ourselves.
Once we arrived safely to Auntie Sharon's place for Lola's celebration, gloomy and damp weather conditions persisted, although we had some fun and great food with the family inside. Thunder was possible for the Central Valley during this afternoon.
Then as late afternoon came, me and my mom headed back home. It was early since we didn't want to drive in the rain and thru the mountains when it's pitch black outside. The rains had lit up by the time we reached Tracy once again. Even a thin line of color was seen towards the northwest, indicating this frontal system was finally starting to move out of the region around sunset. Ultimately, we made it home safely...
More rain/unsettled weather was forecast for the next upcoming week as another storm system approaches by Monday... Sunday was to be a break from the rain, since we were to be in between storms. We really need rain since our area was still under an extreme drought. Was it a miracle March at last?
