Fun time with friends.
Could be a great romantic outing!
Hermosa Beach is a beachfront city in Los Angeles County, California, United States. Its population was 19,506 at the 2010 census.
The city is located in the South Bay region of the greater Los Angeles area and is one of the three Beach Cities. Hermosa Beach is bordered by the other two, Manhattan Beach to the north and Redondo Beach to the south and east.
The city's beach is popular for sunbathing, beach volleyball, surfing, paddleboarding and bars. The city itself extends only about 15 blocks from east to west and 40 blocks from north to south, with the Pacific Coast Highway running down the middle. Situated on the Pacific Ocean, Hermosa's average temperature is 70 °F (22 °C) in the summer and 55 °F (13 °C) in the winter. Westerly sea breezes lessen what can be high summertime temperatures in Los Angeles and elsewhere in the county and help keep the smog away 360 days of the year.
A paved path, called The Strand, runs along Hermosa's beach from Torrance Beach in the south approximately twenty miles north to Santa Monica. The Hermosa Beach pier is at the end of Pier Avenue, which is one of the beach community's main shopping, eating and partying areas.

Hermosa Beach to Manhattan Beach, CA - strolling The Strand walkway
There is a bicycle path (and pedestrian walkway) called The Strand that connects several beach cities in the Los Angeles area. Going as far south as Redondo Beach and as far north as Santa Monica, it covers approximately 40 miles of absolutely beautiful ocean views as far as the eye can see. On the other sides are stately homes of all kinds, from the very modern, to funky, but all on prime real estate to get choice views.
We did a separate visit to Redondo Beach earlier and you can see our video up here, re that. Here we combined our stroll for Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach. When we arrived for the weekend, it was fairly late, but we wanted to stretch our legs and decided to go to Hermosa Beach to walk about. Sadly, the pier was closed for repairs and we could not access it. However, the main area around there was brightly lit and definitely a hot spot to hang out in. We strolled about a bit, had a bite to eat.
Next day we returned and enjoyed our extensive stroll along The Strand. Exhilarating to say the least...you could become very spoiled living here. The weather was perfect.
One of the highlights we saw was a house, located in Manhattan Beach, that was used for several episodes of the TV series Weeds. The character of Nancy Botwin goes to see her sister, Jill, and asks to stay there for a bit. It was a charming quaint house with a nice flower garden in front.
As always, Ed did all of the camcorder filming and narrations, while I did all of the still photography, chose the music heard, edited everything and uploaded it to You Tube, etc.
The song heard was Reasons To Smile by Topher Mor and Alex Elena, from the free You Tube Audio Library.
A Walk Around Paradise Cove Beach, Malibu, California
Paradise Cove in Malibu is a public beach in front of a privately-owned facility by the same name. The property and the restaurant has surfboards all around and the outside seating area has wooden lounge chairs, palm trees, and thatched umbrellas that almost has a Hawaiian feel. Ironically though with all the surfboards around the owners banned surfing for years until the California Coastal Commission forced them to allow it. The CCC also forced the owners to quit charging fees for visitors who park outside the property and walk in to the beach, but they still charge for parking on-site. If you are here for under four hours and eat at the Paradise Cove Cafe, the parking fee is cheap or free depending on the day of the week, but all-day parking at any time of the year is quite steep (see the Paradise Cove website for current parking rates). But this is a nice place and it’s worth the price of admission to use this wide sandy beach with lifeguards, clean facilities, and a private pier.
With such a name you’d expect a pretty stunning spot. It lives up to it’s name and has even been the setting for many beach scenes in Hollywood movies. Paradise Cove is a great starting point for long beach walks. Heading east you’ll walk below some Malibu mansions and find some private beaches. Heading west you can walk below steep sandstone cliffs all the way to Little Dume Beach and Big Dume Beach in Point Dume State Beach. The entrance to Paradise Cove is clearly signed at the address 28128 Pacific Coast Highway.
