Camping California: Sly Park Recreation Area
California offers a ton of areas to camp. A coworker mentioned Sly Park Recreation Area as a spot that I should check out so a few weeks ago I headed out on my own to camp at Sly Park Recreation Area. I had a very relaxing weekend at the surprisingly uncrowded campground. The scenery was great and there is a wide variety of outdoor activities to take part in.

Canyon Pines RV Resort - Pollock, Idaho
08/02/14
Canyon Pines RV Resort is a beautiful, quiet place to relax and enjoy the sounds of the river. It is nestled in a canyon between Riggins and McCall and it is also close to several white water rafting opportunities. It's just a beautiful place in general and David and Sandy, the owners of Canyon Pines are very proud of their first rate facility. Stop in to their well stocked store and you'll find them to be exceptionally friendly. Everything is clean and maintained. We had the pleasure of camping in site #30 and I recommend this convenient pull-thru right on the Little Salmon River. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
Hwy 50 Placerville to Lake Tahoe 62 miles in 6 min on a sunny fall day (timelapse / drivelapse)
Not your grandpa's old-fashioned drivelapse (welcome to the 21st century). A drive from Placerville up to South Lake Tahoe (Harrah's) over US Highway 50 on a sunny afternoon in the Fall, non-stop. 62 miles compressed into 6-minute timelapse. With instrumentation: speed, elevation, coordinates, heading, elapsed time, and maps. Another very information-dense piece.
Passing through, among other places, Placerville, Pollock Pines, Fresh Pond, Pacific House, White Hall, Kyburz, Strawberry, Twin Bridges, Camp Sacramento, Phillips, Echo Summit, Meyers, South Lake Tahoe, and Stateline.
Starting at elevation 1,834 feet in Placerville, up to 7,382 feet at Echo Summit, and back down to 6,293 feet at South Lake Tahoe, CA / Stateline, NV.

2:30 - Stuck behind an RV towing a car, which is in turn stuck behind a dump truck towing a backhoe.
3:46 - Highway patrol.
3:50 - Echo Summit.
3:56 - First glimpse of Lake Tahoe.
5:31 - Just married.
6:04 - Stateline, Nevada.
Because of the high time-compression, packing a lot of differing information into every frame, this is a tough one for YouTube to play. It plays best at 1080, but you need a fairly high bandwidth connection, and even then the YouTube version is significantly degraded over the original, due to the mondo compression that YouTube (understandably) does to videos.

ABOUT US
Welcome to Grand Adventure, a YouTube channel that focuses on RV-centric outdoor activities including not only of course camping, but also mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, skiing and more, nearly always filmed in stunning 4K.
We're based in Salt Lake City, Utah, and invite you to come along as we travel all around the western U.S. My wife Patricia and I, and our dogs Zoe and Maggie are avid boondockers, so you'll seldom find us in RV parks or even dry campgrounds. Instead, we're usually camped in some of the most remote and beautiful spots that you could ever pull a travel trailer into. And unlike most other RV channels on YouTube, we're not RV dealers or full-timers -- we're weekend warriors just like you!
We'll provide tips and insight on equipping and maintaining your RV, trip planning and travel videos to make your next adventure a grand one indeed! So, subscribe to make sure that you catch every episode, and remember...life is nothing but a Grand Adventure!

Mountain Home RV Park - Mountain Home, Idaho
08/04/14
Mountain Home RV Park was an unexpected delight. We just needed a stop over between Ponderosa State Park and Craters of the Moon National Monument and Mountain Home is located conveniently about half way. It's not a fancy place with gimmicks and golf courses, but a straight forward quality experience. It was quiet and clean. It was spacious and not crowded with wide paved streets. It was also easy to get to off the Interstate. The concrete pads were perfectly level and the hook-ups were first rate including a sewer connection at ground level (loved that). They had a great cable channel selection and our measured WiFi speeds were 5.61 Mbps down and 0.35 Mbps up. The bathroom and shower were individual units along with individual clean cloth bathmats. We'd never seen that before. The laundry was spacious and well equipped along with a flatscreen TV. We had site #51. This is one place we would definitely stay at again.
