Placer County , officially the County of Placer, is a county in the U.S. state of California. As of the 2010 census, the population was 348,432. The county seat is Auburn.Placer County is included in the Greater Sacramento metropolitan area. It is in both the Sacramento Valley and Sierra Nevada regions, in what is known as the Gold Country. The county stretches roughly 65 miles from Sacramento's suburbs at Roseville to the Nevada border and the shore of Lake Tahoe.

    Lake Clementine is a reservoir on the North Fork American River Canyon above the picturesque gold rush era town of Auburn in northern California. It was created in 1939 when the North Fork Dam, a 155-foot tall variable radius arch dam, was completed by the Army Corps of Engineers for the purpose of containing gold mining debris washing downriver. It is open to boat traffic, a waterskiing and wakeboarding spot during the summer. However, it is possible to quietly enjoy the lake for kayaking, rowing, and fishing.     Rollins Dam is a dam on the border of Nevada and Placer counties in northern California, in the United States. The earthen dam was constructed in 1965 by the Nevada Irrigation District, with a height of 228 feet , and a length of 1,840 feet at its crest. It impounds the Bear River, a tributary of the Feather River, for hydropower, flood control, irrigation water storage, and municipal water use. The dam is one of the ten facilities owned and operated by the Nevada Irrigation District. The dam is part of the Yuba-Bear Hydroelectric Project. The reservoir it creates, Rollins Reservoir, has a normal water surface of 1.3 square miles , and a maximum capacity of 66,000 acre-feet. Recreation includes trout fishing in the spring, and bass fishing in the summer.
