Darkes Forest is a rural locality in the Wollongong and Wollondilly Shire local government areas. At the 2016 census, it had a population of 115. It is home to the Dharwal National Park and also features several farms.

1. Jenolan Caves Jenolan Caves
The Jenolan Caves are limestone caves located within the Jenolan Karst Conservation Reserve in the Central Tablelands region, west of the Blue Mountains, in New South Wales, in eastern Australia. The caves and 3,083-hectare reserve are situated approximately 175 kilometres west of Sydney, 20 kilometres east of Oberon and 30 kilometres west of Katoomba. The caves are the most visited of several similar groups in the limestone caves of the country, and the most ancient discovered open caves in the world. They include numerous Silurian marine fossils and the calcite formations, sometimes pure white, are noted for their beauty. Northern Ireland is home the Game of Thrones studio (in Belfast) for all the interior sets and many exterior locations. They are (in no particular order):

1) Carrick-a-rede and Larrybane (Viewpoint)
Larrybane, meaning ‘the ancient white site’, is classic Storms End – with panoramic views of the limestone cliffs and ocean. It hosted several key scenes, including the journey in which Brienne beats Ser Loras and is given a place in Renly’s Kingsguard as a reward.

2) Ballintoy
Still a working harbour for local fishermen, Ballintoy doubled as Lordsport Harbour (The Iron Islands) and the homecoming of Theon Greyjoy after ten years in Winterfell.

3) Cushendun
It was in the caves at Cushendun that the Game of Thrones crew filmed the dramatic scene from Season Two in which Davos Seaworth, on the orders of Lord Stannis, takes the sorceress Melisandre ashore where she gives birth to a shadowy baby.

4) The Dark Hedges
The Dark Hedges, an avenue of beech trees thought to be 300 years old, were the backdrop of Arya Stark’s escape from King’s Landing.

5) Cairncastle, Ballygally
It was here that Ned Stark beheaded the Night’s Watch deserter, witnessed by Jon Snow, Theon Greyjoy, and the Stark brothers Robb and Bran; and where Catelyn captures Tyrion Lannister whom she suspects of trying to kill her son. When Bran, Rikon, Osha, and Hodor head north to The Wall it is also from the land above Cairncastle that they take a last look back at Winterfell.
